I wrote about thriving at Columbia, how it was my first choice, talked about my major and specific sub fields in the department and related it to covid-19 and the possibility of relating the two and researching it at Columbia, and being honored to even be considered.
Just a theory: the deadline to defer enrollment (in other words opt to take a gap year) is May 15th. Because Columbia guarantees 4-year housing on campus, they need to be really careful with how many people they admit. Iām guessing they took a very small amount of people in the first wave to make sure they donāt over admit but will accept a larger wave once they know how many people will take a gap year and how many spots will open up.
hey, if i want to email admissions with any more updates or info or just to continue demonstrating interest do i email the general admissions office, regional admissions officers, or my alumni interviewer?
Usually itās the general admissions office, but I asked them if I can do that as well and they said I should send another email only if itās something VERY significant
ppl on reddit r saying that they will release a lot on may 22 bc the gap year requests r due at 11:59 pm tomorrow. so they wonāt officially know the final numbers until tomorrow night.
