Columbia vs Princeton vs Stanford?

What are the pros and cons of each college for someone intending to study history as an undergraduate?

For history, I’d recommend Columbia partially because of location. The best museums, culture, history are outside the college gates. If your son or daughter is wants her experience with history to be involved, not static, I think Columbia would be a great place for him/her to see history and not just learn it. Also, the faculty is outstanding.

But I’ll admit I’m biased. I’m an ED CC’14. There are plenty of reasons I chose Columbia, and I doubt I’m headed down the history path. Best of luck with the college process.

Thanks so much for your recommendation!

Also, while being in the city is great in that it is resource-rich for a history major, it is not for everybody. Some truly prefer a campus.
If you think that you would be significantly happier on a campus, than I would say Princeton or Yale.
Best of Luck,
