Columbia Waitlist Class of 2028 Thread

Did you get off the waitlist?

So we know that they won’t be taking off in waves…

imo they could, not sure tho. I feel like the whole admissions process was delayed cuz of the protests n stuff, like they couldnt have staff meetings etc. ( also hamilton hall is where the main admin office is so…) Also, saw this article on the news, cant remember what exactly, but it stated that many students were rejecting columbia’s acceptance cuz of the protests? dk how credible that is, but ig lets just hang on w some patience and hope for the best!!

maybe they’re starting off w home first, cuz i feel many home students didnt take a spot- i guarantee any international student would say yes, so lesser chances for us :smiling_face_with_tear:. But does anyone have any idea whether they go by filling up classes in general or like whether spots r available for home n internationals??

I think most of the admitted internationals would have said yes by now… they don’t have a reason to withdraw because of the protests. I don’t think they will be taking domestic spots and giving them to international students for diversity or fairness

columbia def can’t be done w waitlists yet bc 1) so many more people declined this year compared to other years and 2) if they were done, they would have said something, much like how harvard and uchicago did.

the real question is why they are being so silent when it’s late may

i would assume so, bc i feel like if there was going to be a wave, it would’ve happened already. if someone got off yday like how tineocollegeprep said on tiktok, and columbia was planning on waves, so many more ppl would have gotten off yday

agreed

I’m really under the impression that they’ve taken no one off so far due to the circumstances with the protests. I think they’re gonna end up delaying it past June 1st, which sucks because I want to find out so bad lol

No.

i think they will, because on the website it says ‘most fit applicants regardless of being international or home’ something like that, basically said they dont pay attention to where yr coming from, yr spot on the waitlist already shows u as a competitive applicant so they’ll be picking off w the MOST competitive ones ig, and i think they’re picking students w no fin aid first cuz of the controversy going on rn. Has anyone tried calling the office?

are there any international students here? btw im a home student, i was just asking to get a pic of how competitive the waitlist is rn

How much do you think their admissions process was delayed? Hamilton Hall looked pretty destroyed after the May 1st break in.

They had it mostly fixed up in a week or two after it happened. It wasn’t as extensive as it looked in the pics and videos. Admissions is in the basement. Not even certain the students went there – separate entrance typically.

Praying I pull off a miracle though. I absolutely busted my a** for my LOCI and went on to email department heads for the major I applied and got the opportunity to speak with them over call. I have a interest in Creative Writing too so I reached out to department heads of that too and I got the opportunity to talk to them about an initiative I did in HS where I wrote poems about experiences of war veterans. The heads liked it so much they invited me to meet with them IRL to actually make my initiative into a class for elderly and veterans contingent to my acceptance into Columbia. I put all of that into my LOCI.

i am

cool, where r u based? if you dont mind me asking

I thought that most people would just send updates to their application so ig I wanted to do something different to stand out by demonstrating “fit.” From how I see it, a waitlist means that you’re academically qualified but they’re just unsure about how well you’d fit into the community. I think I only provided one major update in a paragraph and spent the rest of the page talking about the conversations I had with current students and department directors

You’re academically qualified, yes, but they have met all their institutional priorities without you. Should a “hole” emerge that you can fill, they’ll reach out. It’s not about whether you “fit”.
