someone called admissions and said no one has been taken off the wait list yet. Not sure what that all means
where did you get that info from?
I was taken off…
what time of day did it come out? how long did u have to accept your spot?
when did you get an email?
I have a friend that I know personally that was also taken off. In the engineering school, mechanical engineering major, from Virginia. She told me about her acceptance at around 8 pm on Friday, so I assume that she either heard back at around between 5-7 pm earlier that day. And she checked her portal (no email) as she was pretty nervous and was just constantly refreshing until she ended up actually seeing her new status update! She has 1 week to decide but she’s already decided that she’s going to Columbia! (I want it to be my turn lolol)
Did she ever get an email? My D24 doesn’t check the portals, I guess I should tell her to.
no email… my friend just has a tendency to constantly refresh the portal cause she’s so anxious lol
not to bombard you with questions, but do you know if she’s full pay? apparently a lot of ivy admits rn are full pay
no problem at all! i checked with her, and she isn’t completely full pay but not completely on financial aid either (in other words, she got about $20K off of tuition). honestly, in my opinion at least, idk if it makes too much of a difference cause she and i had pretty similar stats/ecs/letters and i’m full pay but didn’t get in off the waitlist
Another girl from Texas also off the waitlist today. Mechanical engineering.
Glad it is moving but my heart sinks for my D24. Maybe CC will be after engineering …
Also no email? Just portal checks?
Tomorrow is the 15th - maybe things will start to shake out soon.
Do you think last friday was the first wave of waitlist admits or just a few exceptions?
I personally think columbia is doing rolling, like upenn. seems like very few got off last week and it was not all at once within a few days, it was spread out. just my thoughts
I’m just curious how much columbia is planning to admit. someone apparently called for harvard waitlist yday and they said to expect few off, since harvard had a high yield rate this year. has anyone heard from admissions about this?
Harvard is always very few. Columbia bounces around - 30-50 but also years with none. I guess with the protests it won’t be a 0 year
That wouldn’t make sense though, Columbia would likely go through everyone to see who’s best fit for them before they admit.
