Nice work! You’ve got a great profile. Where did you publish? Were these in peer reviewed scientific journals, or in a newspaper type article?

The only thing missing I see from your application is some sense of what it means to be a doctor. Med school, residency and being a practicing doctor can be brutal. So you have to have some appreciation of what the lifestyle is life. One way to do this is through volunteering at a hospital or shadowing a doctor. I see that you did a 3 week internship. This is a good start.

I published both in peer reviewed scientific journals, on my way for a 3rd. What do you mean by “sense of what is means to be a doctor”? How does one achieve that?

Shadow a doctor. Especially late nights, weekends and holidays. Get a sense of how much medicine will take away from your family and social life.

Most students have a glorified image of what it means to be a doctor only to be disgruntled after graduating.

That’s why kids of doctors always have an easier time when applying to med school. It’s because the kids have firsthand knowledge of what the lifestyle of a doctor is.
