Combining Vocab Lists?

So I took the CR sections from the PSAT and ended up getting 7 wrong which is a huge improvement from 18, but half of those are sentence completions. I know I need to memorize vocab for the sentence completions, but should I combine different lists? Because when I looked up certain words in different lists (from the PSAT booklet), some had and some hadn’t. So, should I just combine a whole bunch of vocab lists and memorize them? I’m taking my first SAT in November, and my final PSAT in october… I’m trying to improve my CR from a 55 to a high 60/70. Would it be possible to memorize a whole bunch of words? I have started using notecards, but because of school I barely have any time to study for the SAT.

The thing that concerns me here is that your schoolwork is already keeping you so busy. So I’ll mention something that should help schoolwork and also help with SAT preparation. That way you’ll be doubly ready for college. It sounds like the best use of your time might be vocabulary self-study based on word roots. That may speed your school reading, saving you time, and should help keep new vocabulary words in mind. I like the book English Words from Latin and Greek Elements by Donald M. Ayers and also the book [English Vocabulary Elements](http://www.amazon.com/English-Vocabulary-Elements-Keith-Denning/dp/0195168038/) by by Keith Denning, Brett Kessler, and William R. Leben. There are many other books like these. You can probably find a few similar books at a local library.

To get a good critical reading score, you need to free up time for independent reading. If your schoolwork involves lots of reading of lots of different kinds of writing, that is good, but also read for yourself about what you like to read about, as that will increase your reading ability and get you ready both for the test and for college.

Please ask follow-up questions as needed. Good luck on your test and in the overall admission process.

Thanks tokeadult for the reply. I have considered studying to roots, and I will definetly look through those books that you mentioned and see what I should do.
Well, I usually read alot on my own outside of school. Reading is a way to relax for me, but I only started reading this summer. The past years of my life, I used sparknotes to look up books that I had not finished for a book report.haha
Thanks again!
