Come hither for a bit of chancing

Entering my senior year at a private Catholic School in San Diego, CCHS. I’ve always had my eyes on the UCs, even though my parents expect me to attend Caltech, Stanford, MIT, Harvey Mudd, etc. (my dad is 50% asian, he’s very driving). I believe the UCs are more realistic. Your two minutes will be reciprocated with my utmost gratitude

Let me know if you need more info!
Thanks for your time

You’re a high match. You’re likely to be admitted.

Thanks for responding. I have some worries:

 • I plan on not submitting my SAT if I can’t bring it up. Are they biased towards the SAT?
 • I’ve only taken 2 years of Spanish
 • Extracurriculars suck
 • College of Engineering I hear is nigh impossible to get into

How might these factors affect me? Thanks again

You should have a very high chance of getting in.

Submit both scores. It might look fishy to only submit ACT from an area where SAT is more popular. Its not like you did that bad on the SAT anyway, so having both there would be okay.

Extracurriculars are a lot about how you present it. Not saying to lie, but present it well, and you can make it look competitive.

Sounds exactly like me, but I had lower merits than you. You’re a lot more competitive than most applicants for UCLA.

And no, your ECs don’t suck. They’re excellent.

I don’t believe they’re biased towards the SAT, your ACT will do. The two years of Spanish is a very small setback, and I don’t think it would affect your admission that negatively. While admission into the College of Engineering is difficult, your stats seem competitive enough to get in. Good luck this admissions season!

Who cares about your SAT, submit the ACT!! You’re pretty much done with standardized testing. GPA looks pretty good and so do your E/C’s. I’d say you’re a match.

UCLA Engineering is harder than the regular school but not by that much (compared to say UC Berkeley). 2 Years of spanish makes little to no difference. You’re SAT is about average and GPA very good. You’re actually almost exactly like me when I applied (2 years spanish, i had 2140 SAT, 4.5 W GPA and massive amounts of video game experience LOL) ecs matter very little in the UC application compared to the SAT/GPA

Thanks for the reassurance, bros. Just crossing my fingers atm and waiting for them to release the 2011 UC app.
