Hey, I’ve been reading posts about how students never gave up and finally got a score they wanted. I am here to tell you my story.

Currently a Senior, I recall back in the summer after Freshman year, I went to a SAT Summer Class in Korea. During their practice tests, I kept on getting around 1650/2400… Sophomore year comes by and I take the PSAT and get like a 167/240… Thinking to myself it was only for practice, I take the PLAN and get a 25/32. I’m saying, not bad, not bad at all…

So this is why I started to commit myself to studying the ACT. (i still think its easier)
In the Summer before Junior year, I went to ACT classes 6 hours/day…5 days a week…for about 2 months…Although intense, what was fun was that you were not alone and friends were by your side. The Fall of Junior year comes and I take another class to fit in my busy schedule…

So equipped with the strategies and studying, I go in the December 2009 test with optimism. However, right when I started, pressure and anxiety built up as I did not want to waste all that time studying. I got a 27…, disappointed as I was alone with a 27, while my friends all received 30+ even a 35.

I was still lacking and ignorant of respecting the ACT. February test comes by and i get a 28. An increase, not bad I say…

April comes and this time I try to loosen up to relieve tension by thinking how I have improved my studying habits and such… I get a 28… NO CHANGE.

I decide June will be my last… Stacked with 10 ACT books by my side and some other grammar book, I start studying like mad as school was over. I go in and get a 29… Now, most of my friends have finished the ACT and were satisfied while I was still hindered by it.

Despite the stats showing that taking ACT the 5th time is useless and my disappointment,
the whole summer, I talk to myself, “Yo, this is your last chance, no more after, no more before…” I grab a language arts book and start reviewing all the grammar we have learned. I get the ACT books and complete them… I start to get newspapers and read for speed. I start developing an interest in winning over the ACT…

This time, ALL Set and ready, I say, "no matter what, I did my best in preparing. GAME TIME
The september test: english and math, I was feeling great. Reading and Science,…not so much…
AFter, i keep thinking…just a 29.5…or 30…
Few days ago, i checked at midnight with the nerves rushing and shivering me… I even hold a paper to block the score and see from bottom up… Whoa, science…reading…math…english…omgosh…a 32!
No way did I expect to see that! and i woke up everyone . screaming in happiness and thankfulness.

How I did it and the moral:
- I gave it all by going through about 10 ACT books and other materials.
Princeton Review, Kaplan, Mcgraw Hill, Barrons, and the Red book have helped me. - I went into the ACT with a positive attitude and the “I can do it” feeling. One’s positiveness is so important. Thinking all negative won’t help at all, why not feel happy?!
- Time limit on the test is still an issue to me. However, timing yourself to go and move on other questions is sooo important. better to get like 5 questions rather than 1 hard question. DO NOT PANIC WHEN time is almost over as you wont be able to do anything then…
- PLAN SOMETHING FUN to do after, Yes, it was my homecoming night that day, and i guess it kinda helped me relax.
- MY favorite: NEVER GIVE UP and believe! i cant stress the importance of this: i took it 5 times despite others comfortably being done with ACT.

I appreciate and thank God, family, friends, people, and the college confidential members for your support and motivation!

Hey, 27 to a 32! Sucess!
U CAN do it!!
