@alh, if you want to hear something scary many eons ago, my husband started teaching histology at a med school. He is a PhD not a medical doctor and had never taken the course or any similar course. He was literally about three chapters ahead of the students. Luckily he co-taught the lab with someone who did know the material inside and out and he only had to give two of the lectures.
I would think the easiest thing is to just avert her eyes for the few moments in the film that are cringy to your daughter. Or she can decide to skip watching the film and tell the professor how she feels about it. It is up to her as a young adult to decide what her convictions are and how she wants to deal with situations like this.
