Comfortable Women's Shoes?

I’m always on the hunt for comfortable women’s shoes. I have medium to wide feet and high arches. I’m just wondering if anyone has suggestions. I don’t like more than a 1-1.5" heel or none at all. I’m contemplating a pair of Tieks but don’t know anyone who has a pair and don’t know whether to believe all the glowing reviews about these leather ballet shoes. Anyone tried Tieks? Anyone have suggestions about these or other amazingly comfortable shoes?

I searched high and wide for a Tieks review that didn’t sound like an advertisement and did find one that said they were nice, moderately comfy but not worth the price. I have a friend that loves them but her feet are very different than mine and when I slipped one on I knew they weren’t for me.

I won’t post a link because it is a site violation but there is a good shoe blog called Barking Dog Shoes. The writer suggests shoes for different types of feet and foot ailments and she tries hard to find shoes that are stylish.

My feet are bony, narrow and I have high arches. My most comfortable pair of shoes are my Keen Mary Jane style clogs… Lots of cushioning and arch support but kind of clunky looking.

I happened upon a Bass shoe outlet about a month ago and on impulse bought this shoe: http://www.ghbass.com/product/bradshaw+slip-on.do?sortby=ourPicks&from=fn I am now considering buying another pair in a different color. They are sooooo comfortable. I have high arches and these have really nice arch support.

I have several pairs of Hotter brand shoes from England. They make some XW shoes that are comfortable for my Hobbit feet, even with PF and bunions. http://www.hotter.com/us/en/viewallextrawide?pageSize=60 They’re currently offering free exchanges along with 20% off.

I have a high instep and also need a wide toe box. It’s very difficult for me to find comfortable shoes. I have a pair of Dansko that fit me feet perfectly.

Just recently I purchased a pair of Abeo Aerosystem shoes from The Walking Company.

Every time I put them on, I can’t believe how comfortable they are. It might help to know that I typically hate any kind of enclosed shoe, so for this type of shoe to be comfortable, it has to be amazing.

I also just purchased a few shoes from Keen. Again, they are very comfortable for my foot, mainly because they have a wide toe bed.

I have 8 pairs of Tieks. I think Teriwitt has a pair. I like them, but they are basically like being barefoot. No cushioning or support. They are SO cute and good quality. Expensive…

I also really like Hotters, they come in varying widths and have easy returns if they don’t fit. I’ve heard good things about Naots. I have a wide toe box and high arches and I have had good luck with Keens and Merrells. They have some styles that are more feminine but tend towards the sporty.

Despite the lack of arch, I have found Toms to be really comfortable (also available in wide)

This is all so relative to your particular foot profile. For example I cannot wear Toms, even for five minutes without real pain. The old Dansko profile used to fit me, but then they changed about 10 years ago and they are impossible on my feet. Right now I have to seek out www.thinkshoesusa.com . A German brand that works for me. Kind of quirky looking but they do the trick.

About three years ago I decided that the next-day pain from wearing anything other than running shoes was simply not worth it, no matter what people think. Since then, I’ve worn only Skora Core trail runners (goat leather minimalist shoe that’s actually pretty cute) for walking and daily life (and Hoka One One shoes (at the other end of the scale from minimalist) for actual running). It’s astonishing to me how much more I enjoy moving around when I know I can move easily and without worrying about my footing. (For example, a party at a fancy museum with marble floors and lots of stairs–I was the only woman there who could walk straight up the middle of the stairs–all the women in heels were holding the railing.)

I couldn’t fit Tieks - just between sizes, so I have several pairs of Sam Edelman ballet slippers. I wear the nude ones all the time. I often keep a pair in my purse to replace the heels at the end of the day. Cute, a little dressy with the bow and metal tag. Love these. Also, Munroe shoes are super comfortable. I bought a pair of leopard print booties last Fall and wore them a lot.

I have wide feet and high arches and have had foot surgery, making it very difficult to find shoes that I can wear. The Naot Paris is incredibly comfortable. I generally wear orthotics but don’t need them in this shoe, which has a cork footbed that you can replace eventually. I’ve had this shoe for a few years and wear it almost nonstop, including biking and walking around town. It has some height but your foot is almost flat.

I forgot to add----Tieks do not work for me. No arch support.

@musicamusica I have 15 year old Danskos and the new ones don’t work. The old ones were made by Sanita and still available under that brand. They are also a bit less expensive. My “go to” work shoes.

I have bought many shoes in the last 2 months that I promptly sent back. The ones I kept are my Keen Whisper. On a trip to Chile, different topography and temps, city and trail walking, they were the only shoes/sandals I needed. I wore socks for cooler weather. I recently got a pair of Jambu Blossom which are very comfortable and get lots of compliments.

Tieks are so cute! You might want to check out the Nike Aerosoles store online or at many malls. I bought a pair of Aerosoles flats about a year ago when I was at a college visit with my son and needed to do alot of walking (and my other shoes were getting more uncomfortable by the minute). These flats have a little bit of cushioning and very soft leather. Aerosoles also makes boots, heels, etc.

I have a couple pairs of Remonte which are really comfortable.

I hated the Hotter shoes that I ordered. I felt that they were too big (but not the wrong size) and boxy and just ugly. I was disappointed, and I’m normally pretty easy to please.

Cole Haan Monroe ballet flats are really comfortable–more structure than Tieks. Agree with the recommendation for Jambu–I like the Spin Too flats–wore them often this summer. Just bought the Cole Haan Tali Bow flats flor fall.

I am a big fan of Easy Spirit, because they come in a variety of widths, heel heights and have good cushioning. My feet have been wide and I always found ES shoes that fit nicely and were comfortable. I also have some Merrells, Softwalk and Born. I find good prices on 6pm.com or Zappos. I recently lost weight and seem to have dropped from a 7 to a 6.75, which doesn’t exist. Nothing fits right, and the 6.5’s I’ve tried are too tight still. I’ve only had good luck with Merrells so far.

My guideline for shoes is: “Can I walk around all day in these?” If I can, I buy more of the same in other colors. I don’t wear heels, but wedges or clogs work. I wear Sketchers sneakers and would live in them if I could. Flats, even expensive ones, make my feet hurt almost instantly.

I’ve had success with ecco shoes…though I don’t have high arches.

I recently tried on nearly every flat in DSW. By far, the most comfortable was Cobb Hill by New Balance. I didn’t buy them because they didn’t have my size in the color I wanted, but even the smaller size was comfortable. http://www.dsw.com/shoe/cobb+hill+by+new+balance+elise+flat?prodId=331613
I tried on another style and it was very comfortable also but not exactly what I was looking for.
