Ok so back in ‘09 I attended a uni in Michigan, it was a great school with a great psych program and everything was great. Unfortunately life and financial troubles got in the way and not only was I forced to go back home to Florida, I had to leave with a 20k debt. I took a 2 year break to get my life in order and attempt to move on from everything that happened in 09’ and I decided to go back to school. Unfortunately, my 1st school would not release my transcripts to me unless I paid my debt and so in a desperate move to get some traction back in my life, I omitted that school from my application to get into a CC. I attended said CC and transferred out to a state uni. And now I am wracked with guilt and I’m constantly afraid of my current school finding out about my omission. I honestly wish I could get my transcript from the first school because I had a 3.3 GPA my one semester there and it sucks that I feel like if my current school were to find out about my lie, they’d think it was because of bad grades which was definitely not the case. Oh and I also did not claim any financial aid at either of these institutions, so it’s not like I’m trying to commit fraud or anything of the sort. My question for you all is, do you think my current school would forgive me for having omitted my first school if I came clean and explained the situation? I really want to be honest and not have to worry about this but I also don’t want all of my hard work to be for nothing as I worked my way from CC to where I am now. I look forward to any feedback.
Yeah, if you are in good standing, there’s a pretty good chance, but I’m guessing that dealing with your debt or having a plan to do it is going to be involved.
Yeah I transferred into the uni with a 3.9 from my CC and so far I’ve maintained a 4.0 so I’ve been looking for ways to get my transcript from my first school, however, it seems that the only ways I can get the transcript are by paying the full amount (which would take quite a while as I have only been able to secure a part time job) or declaring bankruptcy (as the amount I owe is a tuition debt and not an actual student loan). I guess I’ll give it a try and speak with someone at the school. I’d rather the school find out from me than from somewhere else, especially if I want any chance of going to grad school. Thanks for your input.
