<p>i have canned examples, but it seems like the sat topics have gotten more and more difficult to answer. one of the past topics was something along the lines of: “Should schools discuss moral and social issues?” How the heck do you answer that? What examples can use? Please help! Thanks!</p>

<p>@envymealways: I would argue that a citizenry informed of historical and contemporary issues is essential. I would have personally used the example of stem cell research that is the one that immediately comes to mind and discusses the progressive spirit that our duties to poor ultimately supersede the irrational need to support an overly-conservative religious doctrine. Public opinion of stem cell research is increasing in the United States due to a citizenry that is informed of its positive benefits.</p>

I used Holden Caulfield from Catcher in the Rye to argue that humor is often not the best way to deal with problems since his derisive nature led to his own ostracism in society. I also assumed the uncommon viewpoint on this issue in comparison to other essays which can be a benefit to your score if your argument is reasoned well.</p>
<p>I believe in using “canned” versatile examples for every SAT essay and having pre-made phrases readily available to reduce thinking and to ensure that both pages are completely utilized. I also only believe in one extended example for the essay to avoid any incomplete thoughts and to show the reader some degree of depth. I took the SAT three times and scored two 12s and one 11 with this belief.</p>
