Common App Additional Info

A little background, math is a big drag on my gpa, basically all my other classes are good, but I have serious conceptual issues with math. (hoping to major in poli sci)

For the ‘additional info’ section in the writing tab, I was thinking of writing briefly about how I’ve always struggled with math but have continued to take classes to challenge myself, even though I haven’t done so well in them.

Will this make me look dumb/unprofessional?
Or is it a good idea to talk about this to confront probably my biggest issue head on?

Thanks

ha… sounds like an excuse-making to me!(xD i’m going to pharmacy school and i’ve done horrible in chem LOL) well since math has nothing to do with your major(u lucky…), i would suggest writing about what made you choose the major you are going to be in! like i’ve always had a passion with debating, etc. Hope i helped!

I definitely think you should mention your math grades. From your GPA, it’s already clear that you have some issues in math, and giving readers some context as to why your grades are below where you’d like them to be can only help you. Even if you did perform poorly, there is definitely something to be said for challenging yourself as much as you possibly can.
