common app arts supplement

does anyone know-
how are the arts suppplement viewed in carleton admission?
do the admission officers themselves not look at it but hand it to the art department instead?
i’m debating whether to send it in or not. A lot of colleges encourage NOT to send in Art supplements if they are not spectacular or average, so i don’t want to like annoy them or anything… I mean have no idea what “good” is for Carleton, it says like ten percent of the kids do visual art, so that’s not a lot, right?

I believe they said it would be not viewed by the art department…I’m not sure, though, probably would e-mail them to make sure. I don’t think it matters much either way, like interviews.

I probably would, since it shows a little more interest in the school and its art scene. Sending in a crappy portfolio won’t determine if you’re admitted or not.

i was wondering the same thing–i’m sending in a dvd (theatre kid).

Q. Can I show Carleton my art portfolio as part of my application?
A. The Common Application has an arts supplement which many students choose to submit. You can send in slides, photos, copies of your work with your application and we will make sure that a professor from the art department reviews your submission.
