<p>Are underscores within the email id ok? For some reason, i prefer email id’s with underscores since they are more easily available with yahoo, hotmail etc (i think gmail does not allow)</p>

<p>I don’t really know what kind of structures is normally preferred or not by the universities, but I would recommend creating an email adress based on this: <a href="mailto:surname.name@whatever.com">surname.name@whatever.com</a> or <a href="mailto:name.surname@whatever.com">name.surname@whatever.com</a> .
It is simple to read, people can quickly now who you are and it is allowed on GMail, Yahoo Mail, Hotmail, etc.</p>
