Does the Theater Dept see the Common App essay that you submit on the academic application? Student thinks she can’t have an essay about theater when submitting to schools for the MT major. She is also applying to a few other schools non-MT and has a good essay about her theater experiences, but thinks she needs a second essay for the MT schools. Thoughts?
A common app essay is that. So go with the same one.
But if a school has a supplemental that matches, then you might need to change it.
If a school can get to know your student, then the essay has worked.
Btw - many assume the essays matter. They don’t always. Think about how many they read how many are bleh it may be - can you write? Can you spell ?
Will the Music dept see it you ask? It’s likely each school is different.
I am 99% sure that my S21 who has a bfa in acting used the same common app essay for all schools. His artistic statement was different but the two did have similar themes.
