I’ve had a question regarding essay lengths on several common app essays. For example, Cornell says you have a 500 word limit but it’s actually 4500 characters which is more like 700. UPenn says its about a page when its more like a page and a half. Should you really try to fit your essay what they say or just make sure there’s space for your essay in the box. Soo… when they say a page do they mean a page when they print it out and read it like in the print preview?

well for me i did 500 for cornell and writing as much as i can for UPenn

bumpppppppppp

The character limit on the Common App is a technical one and has nothing to do with what the individual schools want.

Follow the schools’ instructions, regardless of how much you “can” physically put in the application.

yeah. Chedva’s got it.
