Common app essay - only four senses

I’m in the process of writing my common app personal essay for the second time now (changed my mind about first idea). Do you think that writing about my lacking a sense of smell, and the impact of that on my life would make a good essay? I feel like it would, but I’m unsure about my judgment.

Thank you!

Often adults lose their sense of smell because of complications of surgery or other problems, but I have never heard of a young person lacking the sense of smell. I would think that your observations could be quite interesting. I have heard that the sense of smell is the most closely tied to our memories; those of us with the sense know what Grandma’s house and Grandma herself smell like and long after Grandma is gone we are reminded of her when we get a whiff of her perfume on someone else.

I think that if you can pull it off in an interesting manner, the admissions counselor could be passing your essay around asking: “Did you know this?” Good luck. You have my curiosity up.

That sounds pretty cool for a topic.
I think you may have a chance of pulling it off, like MD Mom said.
Good luck!
