That’s a really dumb thing to do Ask an English teacher or a trusted adult why would you ask people you know nothing about that can steal your essay and completely screw you over
But if you are look up their history THOROUGHLY and make sure they are legitimate
Well, for what it’s worth, I’m a mom and a teacher. I can promise I don’t mean any harm… another set of eyes helps a LOT.
But, honestly, when I was looking for someone to proofread my son’s the other day, I asked a couple of people in particular-- people I respect based on what I’ve seen them post. He got some great recommendations-- small tweaks that really strengthened his essay.
I’ve asked an English teacher and a few friends too; I just wanted to get a set of (relatively) objective eyes from people who don’t know me.
That makes perfect sense to me.
People who know you will tend to read what they expect to read… they may not catch the errors that a stranger might.
