<p>I’m confused about the essay. Do you think writing about my inability to tie shoe laces would be a good topic as a failure I’ve experienced? Or should I write about my love for animals and how I’m at peace in an environment containing them?</p>

<p>Depending on how you write it, they might think you’re not taking the prompt seriously. It might not give them a very deep look at who you are.</p>

<p>Questions about a failure, or your biggest failure, are a standard job interview question. Employers (and college admissions folk) are looking to see how you have overcome a challenge. For that reason, your inability to tie your shoes is a BAD TOPIC because you seemingly have yet to overcome that challenge. Conversely, if you’ve spent the last ten years not being able to tie your shoes . . . and magically just learned how after persevering time-and-time again, that would be a GOOD TOPIC. <p>I actually think that is very unique! Lately with everyone picking such ordinary topics, something mundane can be very refreshing. it will all depend on how you execute/word it though but thats very original!</p>

<p>picking *the typical, common “i persevered and did better after a hard time”</p>

<p>I think it sounds really unique! I like it, but only use it if it had an impact on your whole life and has a deeper meaning than, “When I was six, I couldn’t figure out how to tie my shoe, so I was really sad.” </p>

<p>But if you can pull it off, go for it!</p>
