I had cardiac surgery freshman year that was curative. I want to write my essay mentioning the surgery but more about how it changed my perspective on progress and taught me resilience. The cardiac surgery would just be mentioned in a few sentences. Thoughts on if this is a good idea or are health issues, even if minimally mentioned, best to avoid?
Having your chest cut open, lying in a ICU bed in a near death experiences, chance to reflect on your life and its meaning. How people around you are directly responsible to keep you alive. I think that would be a fantastic foundation to build an essay.
