So, for the common app short answer, it states; “In the space provided below, please elaborate on one of your activities (extracurricular, personal activities, or work experience)(150 words or fewer).”

I plan on talking about my involvement in key club, but more particularly a project that two of my best friends and I started sophomore year. My concern; however, is that the project, which included helping mentor and counsel local students at elementary schools, actually turned into an “advanced project” and was taken as a class with a counted GPA. I took the “class” second semester of my soph year, (instead of a P.E. class) but opted out of it junior and senior year to take more sciences, APs, etc. The project continues improving every year, and mentors now attend 4/5 of the public elementary schools every day of the school week and about 30 high schoolers participate, helping over 150 kids. Will the fact that I was a major impact in the idea and starting of this project balance out the fact that I didn’t continue participating in it because I wanted the most academically challenging courseload? Should I talk about this at all or change my essay topic completely? Any help would be great! :-)
