For the common app essay about which college we’d like to apply to at Michigan,
are we allowed to write about programs that have undergraduate studies offered later? For example, for certain schools you have to apply for the program during your sophomore year.
Or do we have to write about colleges that offer admission directly to freshmen?

I am currently a freshman at the U-M, so I don’t know exactly what the Common App questions look like this year. However, I do know that they are looking for the specific college within the university (LSA, Engineering, Theatre/Dance, Music, etc.) that you are going to matriculate under. That said, students are free to switch from one college to the next once they begin studying, provided the college will accept them. If you are looking at colleges that don’t start until sophomore year (i.e Ross,) then you probably want to say you will matriculate as an LSA student (and why) and that you plan to transfer to Ross (and why). That’s my suggestion.
