<p>I place my fingers on the strings and begin to strum smoothly. As I pluck each string with another hand, I feel the different notes vibrating a hollow wooden body. This gently carved piece of ovangkol wood amplifies the subtle tremors into a sweet harmony. I carefully lay my voice on the flow of the tune and start to narrate a lyrical story, which can be my own or others. Music connects me to the world. It is not only a hobby for me, but also a tool that I understand and communicate with others. While a series of vibrations from my vocal cord conveys the lyrics along with the accompaniment of a guitar, my mind attempts to present the implied emotions to others; then, I see their reactions and realize that they feel the same way as I do. This spiritual communication cannot be explained in words. And I feel this power of music.</p>
