Common App Short Essay Question

<p>Hey folks,</p>

<p>I was wondering if writing about being a life guard for the short essay would be too “everyone does this topic” type of essay. Would it be wise to write a topic about life guarding; or do a lot of applicants do this?</p>

<p>I know that if the essay is good; I will have no problems; but excluding that, does anyone have any comments about this?</p>

<p>It’s fine. I don’t think the short answer is that important anyway–you just talk about what you do and stuff like that. I don’t think it’s meant to be a personal essay, or an essay at all, for that matter.</p>
