When I started filling out the common app back in August, I didn’t waive my right to access. I didn’t realize this was a big deal or would affect my application in any way, but I’ve seen some posts that says it does. My question is: could this be a reason I was rejected from Yale? And, more importantly, will it hurt my chances of getting into other selective schools RD? I checked and I can’t change the waiver. But I never saw any of my recommendations. I initially thought the waiver only affected things after matriculation. Please help!

Personally, I think you are over-thinking reasons why you were deferred. That said, there are mixed posts about whether colleges take seriously teacher recommendations where students didn’t waive a right to access: [ferpa waiver - Google Search](<a href=“ferpa waiver - Google Search”>ferpa waiver - Google Search)
