Hmm. Could this push the Common App to a bit more user friendly place?

The post title says “merge” but the pull quote says “acquired”–they’re not the same, so which is accurate, @Dave_Berry ?

The article uses both “acquire” and “merge”.

My point was just that @Dave_Berry probably doesn’t know anything more than what was written in the original article, which as you correctly point out is a little sloppy and imprecise!

I’ve reached out to the author (Eric Hoover), @ciervo , and will update if I get an answer.
