How many essays do you have to submit to U of Chicago? Do you just choose one of the prompts from their Supplementary App. or do you have to pick one from the Common Application’s as well?

Thank you!

You submit:

1) The Common Application.
2) The Chicago Supplement, which includes
a) the uncommon essay prompts:
[University of Chicago College Admissions | Essay Questions](http://collegeadmissions.uchicago.edu/admissions/essays.shtml)
b) an essay on why you want to go to the University of Chicago
c) an “optional” essay on your favorite media (books, music, movies, magazines, TV shows, etc.)

I use the quotation marks because I think it’s unwise not to write that fourth essay.

I see, thanks.

Are we required to write the Common App essay as well?

Yes. You’re handing in the completed common app along with the Chicago supplement.

“Optional” essays are never truly optional if you really want to attend that school. Don’t leave anything on the table. Take every chance you have to present yourself!
