Common Application Word Length

How long can it really be? I know the recommended is 250-500 words, but from those who had been accepted into selective schools is a 900 word essay okay?

It has been cut down from 2000 to 900, but the essay seems to be able to omit anymore. Can I please have some opinions on this issue?

Also, the content of the essay is about my work at the NCI (national cancer institute) and basically my own experience in the hospital and my friend who died because of cancer which fuels my desire to cure cancer today. Kind of. That is like way oversimplified and very loose.

Any thoughts will be welcomed. Thanks :)

I think 900 is a bit long, but if you really can’t cut anything, don’t jeopardize the quality of the essay just to make it shorter.

Is it longer than two pages? Because apparently that’s the unspoken limit.

Yes, it is two in a half.

Thank you for the response.

Would you recommend cutting it down to two. I can probably find a way to do that.

Application is kind of a long word, but Common is only two syllables.

Sorry, just kidding with you.
