Hi.

I am international and I have few problems with Common Application.

1) In which section should I put a summer science camp?
2) In which section should I put academic classes which are extra?
3) In which section should I put the fact that I was twice a narrator of theater piece at school?
4) Can I double the page with EC?
5) How my teachers submit their recs if I am going to apply online?
6)Is it normal to send the same CommonApp essay to all of my schools or should I write a unique one for each of them?
7) If I dont attend IB, just normal curriculum in my country, what should I put in the section courses? All of my subjects (I have 14) or only these which I have on higher level?

1) It goes into the same section with your other ECs (extra curriculars). There is a place to indicate how long you were involved, so you’d just show the summer.
2) What do you mean by ‘extra?’ If you took courses at another school that aren’t already on your school transcript, you need to send that transcript as well. If you took extra classes as an EC, then it goes into the section with ECs.
3) That goes into the ECs. Probably not worth noting - it doesn’t sound very significant by itself. However, you could put down ‘Theater’ and in the description, mention ‘various roles’ if indeed that is accurate.
4) No, you can’t ‘double page’ ECs. You have two options. You can condense your ECs (example: “Musical performance” with a summary of the various things you do as part of that EC - orchestra, music lessons, performances, etc… in the descriptive line.) Or you can add it into the section where they as if there is anything else they need to know. I would go with the former rather than the latter since they aren’t interested in a long laundry list of minor accomplishments.
5) The Common Application includes a form that the teachers fill out. They complete the form, make copies and mail it directly to each school. You need to provide stamped and addressed envelopes for each school you are applying to. Most teachers will write only one recommendation that goes to all the schools, although sometimes a teacher may agree to vary the letter if a school has a particular program for which you are applying.
6) The essays in the common application go to all the schools - so it’s one long and one short essay that goes to everyone. Some schools also have supplemental applications which require you to write additional essays specific to that school. You should get a head start by checking out the essays from prior years for both the common app and the schools - they tend to change very little year to year and take quite a while if you plan to do it well.
7) They want all your subjects.
