CommonApp's Additional Information - chasing after a girl?

Hi all.

I think my stats and ECs are on par with what Cornell is looking for, but I would like an extra push to help me get in. Would mentioning that part of the reason I’m EDing to Cornell is to chase after the girl of my dreams? I’m not making this up by the way, it’s a true story. I’d probably write something witty, but not over the top. How do you guys think the admissions officers would view this?

Sounds like a bad idea.

I recommend you don’t. I’m struggling to see how admission officers will view this positively.

I concur. In addition, you better be sure you love the school, itself, too, not just the girl.

^Haha I know. I researched Cornell pretty thoroughly and decided that it’s my top choice before I even found out that she’s going there

Are you certain that ED is right for you, as well?

If you are asked why you wish to attend Cornell, please don’t include that. If you want to sneak something in… “I am drawn in part by aspects of the unique student body that cannot be found anywhere else.”

Yes. I have a list of other schools but my interest in Cornell is MUCH stronger than even my 2nd choice

NO!!! don’t do it no matter how witty you think you can make it.

Incidentally, is she already a student, or applying this application season? If the latter, she could be rejected, and you could get in ED (and have to go).

You’ll sound like a scary stalker.

no. just no… I’m cringing at the idea.

^i concur with siliconvalleymom. Don’t do it man. There’ll be other great girls elsewhere. No good can come of this.

BillyMc: she’s a freshman this year

haha alright thanks for the advice everyone. I guess admission officers wont find this… “cute” or anything after reading a few thousand apps.
