Hi, I’m new here. We applied several K-8/K-12 private schools in Boston area for our DS. The decisions are expected on M10. Today we received an email from the admission team of one of the schools. The email is a reply to our thank-you email after our DS’ group play visit back in Jan. It basically mentions our DS visit was fantastic and he brought polite and positive attitude to the group. The AO also mentions the admission team will be in touch with a decision on M10.
My questions are: (1) is this a sign? and (2) how should we reply?
I suspect they sent one to everyone, to increase love of the school and to keep parents from bugging them about release dates:)
I don’t think you need to write back, but I probably would have in your shoes and don’t think it hurts (unless you have been sending tons and tons of emails to them already for some reason).
I do agree with Skieurope that it likely doesn’t help much (if at all).
AOs are used to all sorts of applicants observing all sorts of social conventions so I wouldn’t worry about offending them either way. Especially for K, many applicant families have little or no experience with indepedent schools.
You could write back, if you want, and say something short like…thanks for the kind words about DS…we are eager for M10 and hopefully to join the ABC community… reiterate 1-2 things you love about the school…you could say it is your top choice (only IF TRUE!)."
FWIW I am pretty familiar with local boston day schools and spent 10+ years involved in the board of one…
Some wisdom: enjoy the rest of your school year. These are standard emails. Most schools have finished picking their classes. M10 will be here soon.
Good luck !
