Community Activism at Yale

Howdy, all. I’m one fo the co-coordinators of the Yale Hunger and Homelessness Action Project (YHHAP) this year, and I’d be happy to answer questions about community activism at Yale. YHHAP is the undergraduate umbrella organization for student efforts to alleviate hunger and homelessness. We have a website at YHHAP; that provides more detail about what our organization does.

Other groups in which I’m involved include the New Haven Student Fair Share Coalition, which is a coalition of students calling on Yale to give a larger voluntary contribution to New Haven in lieu of tax-exemptions, and the Ward One Democratic Committee, which is the body that selects the Democratic nominee for Ward One city alderperson.

I’d like to encourage all of you future Yalies to get involved in the community and get to know New Haven. New Haven is one of the best reasons to come to Yale because you can truly learn so much just by experiencing the city!

If I’m not responsive by this thread, feel free to email me. My name is David, and my contact info can be found in the “Contact” section of the YHHAP website.
