I was wondering if anyone can comment on the community and vibe at Taft and Episcopal High School (Washington DC).
They are both great schools. Taft is known for their rigorous academics and sports culture. I am wondering if I can cope and fit in with the community. Many students are from NY CT and more diversified.
EHS has a great Washington program and super close to DC. Many students are from the south.
Is the matriculation list an important criteria?
I have visited both schools and I really like both. But since I only had the opportunity to visit them once…
If you have any comments or experiences in these 2 schools, it would be great if you can share your thoughts.
Community - 100% boarding coupled with 85%+ faculty living on campus intensifies the community bonds between students and faculty. EHS is a very tight knit school, not only due to the 100% boarding, but also due to the size of the campus ~140 acres.
Vibe - Busy, urban due to proximity to D.C., yet campus feels a world away from the hustle and bustle of D.C. Fall and Spring weather is fantastic. Winter is not too harsh. So many activities to choose from on weekends. Stay on campus or travel into D.C. and enjoy all of its culture. EHS has a southern feel and charm. Lots of students from VA, NC, GA, SC, etc. If you are from the NE, it will be a welcome change.
BTW - Washington Program is expanding and IMHO is underrated by most applicants. Feel free to PM me if you have specific questions. Good luck with your decision!
