Community College -> Berkeley: Is it worth it?

The only way that I can think of what happened in your case is that you messed up freshman year, but other than that I thought Boston University was much easier to get into than UC Berkeley?! Don’t worry I was still going to apply but statistically I have a low chance of getting in. And I have good essay topics, good ECs, and etc. Just a mediocre GPA in sophomore year. Anyway, thank you, everyone, for your feedback and I definitely feel there is a strong match.

Statistically, it IS easier to get into. But my point was to emphasize the value of match. I am SO cut out for Cal it’s silly. I messed up both freshman and senior years (I was on a gap year), I’d no APs, etc. BU admissions would be much, much more number-based. Oh, forget BU. I got rejected from Purdue, which takes an insane amount of internationals, but got into all UCs I applied to, including LA. Also, it’s not cuz of the UC budget crisis. The percentage of internationals actually went down by 10% this year (the overall int’l acceptances hardly increased.)

As long as you show that you’re applying to the specific university, and not tailoring a general application towards them, and that you will really contribute to the university, one year will not matter. You can still take college credits/APs this year. My sophomore year was almost below mediocre compared to the rest of the Indians here.

Hope to see you here!

To give you a better idea of what I mean soph GPA: 3.0 no aps offered. GPA Jun: 4.0, 4.7 weighted.

Oh, and dont worry about not seeing me there! It just depends on whether I am going to be entering as a freshman next year, or a junior in two!
