Community College Greek life

Do community colleges have fraternities and sororities?? Is there rush week and what are other student organizations??

There isn’t at my community college. We have Phi Theta Kappa, the honor society. Some have other honor societies, but I don’t know of any with actual ‘Greek Life’. If you’re going to one, you should check up on it.

There were no social greek life at my cc, doubt there are in any other, maybe at jc though. As far as student orgs, it depends on the cc, I think we had like sports org, and gaming, and other random stuff.

Only two I can think of are Phi Theta Kappa and Alpha Gamma Sigma, those are honors societies (and probably for some, technically the same thing) - CC doesn’t have greek life really.

National chapters don’t care about colonizing at CCs. You could always start your own in theory - perhaps some CCs might have local Greek orgs, but you definitely won’t see any of the big national fraternities or sororities. Greek life survives as essentially a real estate business (with some exceptions, but few), and with no one to live in houses (and no houses to begin with), there’s no profit there. I also think many students are too busy with jobs or taking care of their families.

No real “Greek Life” but at my CC we have several organizations. Of course, there’s the honors societies, Phi Theta Kappa and Sigma Kappa Delta (English). But there’s a few based on specific interests, and of course the SGA. We have organizations focused on Physics, Art, Theater, Business, Health (several of these since my college is known for its nursing programs), and several others that might be of interest to a diverse group of students.
