Community College Program vs Four-year University

I’ve spent the last couple months contemplating if I want to attend SDSU in the fall with a pre-major in Public Health or if I want to attend a community college and enroll in a program such as surgical technician. I am a senior in high school now and I have to make my decision by May 1. I’m just not sure if it’s worth going to school for four years and spending a ton of money just to receive a degree that I may eventually not end up using. I also am not that big of a fan of school, but I like working. If I attend SDSU and get a BS and then do a program after that will my pay be higher than just attending the program alone and getting a certificate? Or will my degree not matter if a separate certificate is earned for that job?

Also, my parents are very strict and encourage me to attend a university like my sisters, but I feel as though it is not something that is important to me. In the end, isn’t it about gaining knowledge and skills for whatever it is you want to do? Or does a four-year degree make everything that much different??

PLEASE HELP !!!
Please reply ASAP if you have suggestions, as I need to make my decision very soon! Thanks
