Hello everyone, as the title reads I’m currently a community college student from upstate New York. I attend ulster county comm college full time as a comp sci major. I am very interested in the amazing financial aid packages offered to students who’s parents aren’t in the position to help them financially. My mom is a single parent with less than 30k per year income and no significant assets in her name. I really want to get into a good CS program and not go onto a ton of debt whilst doing so.

Some background info about myself
3.91 GPA after 3 semesters.
Completed calc 1,2,3, physics 1,2, linear algebra, and mutliple computer science courses offered from school as well as a few data strcutres courses from coursera. This is to name a few courses. I’ve received A’s in all of the classes except calc 2 which I received an A-

My extra curriuclars include:
Secretary of student govt
President of physics club
Nys Math team member
Founder and president of robotics club
Computer science club member
Tutor for computer science courses(currently data structures and intro to cs)
Worked at IT dept doing mostly hardware work

I have a strong passion for programming and really want to help integrate and help push advancements of technology in the areas of medicine. That being said, I really need a strong and soljd basis and a preferably cheap way of achieving so as I doubt I can get a co signer.

Any advice given from anyone on any topic regarding will be greatly appreciated and many thanks will come your way.

Transferring to the Ivy League is very difficult. Generally, these schools have roughly a 1% - 2% transfer admission rate. Transfers are generally exceptional cases. Other than your desire for a lot of financial aid, what is the compelling reason for you to transfer, and why wouldn’t you be able to accomplish good things at a good state school, as an alternative?

That being said, there is a thread right now on the CC Harvard forum for students who applied this year to transfer. My understanding is that out of something like 1400 applications for transfer, they accepted something like 19, including at least one or two folks on the thread. Perhaps those folks might have some advice for you specifically on transfeing to Harvard.

Sorry, I think it looks pretty doubtful. While those stats are good, they aren’t special , yknow? You might want to boost your app by adding work or research or something bigger. Better yet, showcase a talent because with a good talent, Harvard can overlook you being in CC

BTW if you got all A’s in classes, how’d you get 3.91?
