I don’t think this is a good idea because what if the students want to take it for recreation or enrichment?

Maybe so, but when community colleges are undergoing such drastic budget cuts, it makes sense to give the largest possible number of students a chance to take a particular course. One way to do that would be to limit students to enrolling in a particular course once. I think the issue is not students who want to take a course for personal enrichment, as much as it is students who want to repeat a course because they failed it previously, or want to get a higher grade than before. That would fine, except that a large number of students can’t get into courses because of funding limitations. So, it seems fair to give more students access by giving each one shot at a course.

I agree with ALF. This is long overdue. If you look at the “UC Transfers” forum you will find students who have accumulated 20 or more Withdrawals on their CCC transcripts in a 2 to 3 year period. This kind of behavior makes it almost impossible for new students to get into Math and English courses required to transfer to a UC or CSU on a timely basis.

I think it makes a lot of sense as well. It’s about time the community colleges started doing this.
