How much of a role does community service play on college admissions? Do admission officers prefer extra academic course during the summer or volunteering? I ask because I love to learn but I’m not into volunteering much. However, I see all this people here and they have crazy amounts of community hours, like 300 and stuff. And honestly, I’d much rather be learning something interesting for 300 hours rather than volunteering.

Anyway, would a lack of community service hurt my application? Or would it look good that instead of volunteering I challenged myself with extra academic courses?

Thank you!
