Comp Sci and Psych

Is a Comp Sci and Psychology a plausible double major? =/

I don’t think they correlate. Sorry…but do what makes you happy!

Sure, why not?

Comp Sci certainly has applications in Psychology…or pretty much anything for that matter.

my brother is studying computer science and he takes two required psychology courses. Computer science and pyschology are brothers, cos when you study how to write computer programs, it’s just like studying the mind of a computer and how that relates to the human mind. In fact, you can’t split them.

thanks, this is very encouraging

Cognitive science! Artificial Intelligence! Pretty cool stuff…

Well, I mean you can add any two majors and relate them somehow…it isn’t hard. I don’t think an employer would rush for the psychology part.

what do you mean glucose?

Sure, the father of Generic Algorithms (a mixture of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Biology and Psychology) is a man called John Holland. And yes, you guessed it, he is a professor at the University of Michigan.

As you can see, he is a Professor of Psychology and Electrical Engineering & Computer Science.

http://www.econ.iastate.edu/tesfatsi/holland.GAIntro.htm

I took a class with John Holland. It was a class with roughly 15 undergrads and 4 graduate students. He is an amazing and down to earth man. 5 years ago, Time Magazine wrote an article one the 20 most brilliant minds in the World. He was one of them! LOL

He wrote a book called Hidden Order. It is fascinating…but difficult to read. I recommend it highly.

glucose, this is not a matter of adding any major. If you ever study comp sci, you’ll surely take one or two pysch courses. what’s better than combining those two solid majors? besides, i think a pyshcologist would make an excellent comp scientist and vice versa.

woot my future is set! thx for the good 411 =)
