Comp Sci Majors: Python + Pylon/Pyramid or PHP?

I want to complete a prototype for/launch a basic idea of an idea that I have… CLOSEST things to it are “social networking sites,” etc… like Facebook… but it’s not like them at all… I’d like to complete a prototype or a good amount of the project in the upcoming four-five months… I don’t have any programming experience… I’ve only dabbled in C# or C++… I once considered being a Comp Sci major… so which would be the better route?

PHP has books like [Amazon.com: PHP 5 Social Networking (9781849512381): Michael Peacock: Books](http://www.amazon.com/PHP-Social-Networking-Michael-Peacock/dp/1849512388/ref=tmm_pap_title_0?ie=UTF8&qid=1311403613&sr=8-3)

whereas I’d have to learn Python, then learn about web frameworks(Pylon/Pyramid), then use all of my knowledge to create methods of my own since there are no “build a Facebook” books for Python and Pylon/Pyramids… but I think this would be better in the long run if the web site should takeoff…

Only problem is that my idea is REAAALLLYYY GOOOD and I don’t want somebody else to nab it… lots of patent potential for methods… so time is of the essence… Thanks!

I was basically like herp derp life sucks right now I wish I could blah blah blah… then I was like ho **** I’m sure millions of people would live much more enriched lives from this blah blah blah oh wow oh wow oh wow nobel prize lol

you lost me at the last paragraph.

If you wrote you’re website in Scheme, it would legen- wait for it…

(60 seconds later…) - DARY

Go with PHP. It’s the easiest to get started with and also has the best resources available if you want to reuse any code that other people have written.

^I don’t know… if I use Python, I would be using the Pylon/Pyramid web framework which takes care of security and a lot of other things… I feel like I may have a very hard initial two months, but much smoother sailing afterwards… everybody and their mother tries to exploit PHP…

Looks like you’ve already made up your mind…

^Nope… I have no clue which to choose… was hoping for some overwhelming pros… Now, I’m thinking PHP because [Amazon.com: PHP 5 Social Networking (9781849512381): Michael Peacock: Books](http://www.amazon.com/PHP-Social-Networking-Michael-Peacock/dp/1849512388/ref=tmm_pap_title_0?ie=UTF8&qid=1311403613&sr=8-3) is an extremely good resource, and using it would allow me more time to work on the front end… and I could always use a PHP framework for security…
