Another new business of life trend: students are spending hundreds and even thousands of dollars to land an unpaid internship, plus housing and food, with companies like University of Dreams.

<a href=“http://www.cnn.com/2007/EDUCATION/03/06/business.of.life.ap/index.html?eref=rss_education[/url] ”>http://www.cnn.com/2007/EDUCATION/03/06/business.of.life.ap/index.html?eref=rss_education
;

A Michigan State counselor says not worth it:
It’s just one of those things you have to have before employers will even consider looking at your resume," he said.

But students shouldn’t pay to find an internship, he said, because most universities have career centers where students can search for free.

Students pay from $6,499 to $8,999 to have the company find them an eight-week summer internship, plus housing in dorms at universities, some meals, transportation to work and activities for a summer.
Ouch!

This better not be a new trend. This is really really sad.
