<p>Finance companies hire mathematicians, same with technology, insurance, consulting companies. Mathematicians are very good with financial modeling (projection of cashflow), so they could work for almost any industry.</p>
<p>The NSA is the largest employer of mathematicians. The process to land a job is lengthy!</p>
<p>Just to be clear, a major in mathematics doesn’t make one a mathematician. </p>
<p>Google would hire a math major with significant programming experience/knowledge. Many math majors go into software engineering. However, in that case, you would need a few CS classes. You could also apply for business-type positions with a math degree (Google actually has an internship program for non-CS type people, focused mainly on business).</p>
