Comparable to Tufts?

i’ve never visited Northwestern, but it always reminds me of Tufts. They both have a suburban campus outside a major city, both seem to be fairly laid back and friendly in terms of the students, yet competitive in terms of academics.

Can anyone confirm this? I just visited Tufts and loved it, and it’s now tied with cornell as my first choice school. since I probably won’t visit northwestern unless I get in, can anyone tell me that it’s similar to tufts, or even Cornell for that matter?

Thanks

never visited either. i will say that northwestern has a lovely 4-season campus. and yes, it is in the “suburbs”, but college suburbs does not equal regular suburbia… if you look in the princeton review, it will say that student relations with the rest of the town is strained. so it’s not like your friendly neighbor “good morning, good afternoon, good night” kind of thing. however, within the school, you’re correct. it is competitive but laid back at the same time (which i think a lot of private universities are like, or claim to be).
