Compare applicants from same school?

Does U of Chicago compare applicants from the same school? This is different than applicants from the same high school having to compete with themselves for admission.

Some top school admission offers admitted that their university compares applicants from the same high school to establish the context of the high school, ie: how rigorous the school is, what a good GPA really is for the respective high school.

Does Chicago do anything of this sort

I think they can tell the rigor of the school and what a good GPA is and such from the school report.

I’ve never read anything like that. I’d think that only the admissions counselors and a few other people could answer your question.

On the blog, Libby emphasizes that each file is read individually (not batch from school X, then batch from school Y) and that the office feels no need to admit or deny a certain number from a school. If want everybody from a school, everybody gets in. If they don’t want anybody from a school, nobody gets in.
