Comparing GPA's between graduating classes

Do colleges compare various graduating classes from a certain high school? I imagine they don’t due to the difficulty, but it really aggravates me because the graduating class this year is so much more competitive than the graduating class last year for my high school. By my junior year, my GPA was already higher than the senior salutatorian’s, yet I’m stuck in the top 5 students of my class because we really are that much more hardcore. If I had bothered to graduate a year earlier, which I could have done (I didn’t due to certain EC’s and classes I wanted to take), I would be in the top 2 students. Would colleges take that into consideration if I made mention of it? Or would that just sound like I’m whining?

It would be an unlikely situation for any university to do that. Comparing past and future class grade point averages, of a specific high school, would not present much information. Some classes naturally have, more intelligent students than previous or future classes. What it comes down to, is how well the student prepares him or herself, rather than the class as a whole…
