I was looking through the stats of those accepted early and i realized i match up pretty well with them. My question is, how do stats translate over to RD? I know it’s harder to get in RD, but to what degree does the difficulty increase?

Keep in mind that the ED pool is smaller as consist of many “hooked applicants” (athletes, legacies, developmental admits, some URMs) who feel that their best advantage is in applying ED.

Since the bulk of the applicants apply RD, this is the pool that you will compared to. It may be harder because you could and will have stronger applicants who get deferred/denied at other colleges who are now part of the RD pool along with stong candidates who need to compare aid packages.

hey you have about 3 more days so you will know soon enough

I think supposedly applying ED is similar to having an SAT score 100 points higher. This of course translates mainly for the 2150-2250 range (since admissions is greatly skewed in favor of 2350-2400 and against <2150). EA is a little bit different and tends to depend on the school. Colleges continue to reiterate that EA/ED pools are admitted at higher rates because of a stronger applicant pool, but this is simply not true.

If you already have decent stats the ED/RD factor shouldn’t be too important (by decent I mean like 4.0gpa 2250 sats) as ECs are the main focus when you are in the correct range.

like hotrocks says
generally, ED is the weaker pool
if you match up favorably with the ED acceptances, you might want to hold off on uncrossing your fingers
