comparing summer programs (SVA, Pratt, AIB, Parsons)

I’m looking into these four schools for their summer programs and i was wondering if anyone could offer more insight into them, specifically AIB? Their program seems amazing for what you pay for but i’ve never really heard much about it.
i had a friend of mine go to pratt this summer but he went for architecture so he couldn’t really provide much information, seeing as i want to go for either film photography or painting/drawing
any information would be great, thank you!

If artistic freedom is what you are looking for, don’t bother with AIB. There is a reason it is so inexpensive. The dorms are disgusting and are not air conditioned. The classes are not competitive at all. I did the YAR program there because it appeared like it would be marvelous. Not so. You don’t get much freedom to go out and about either. There are mentors you have to check in with ALL THE TIME. You have to eat dinner with everyone else in the program, and you are only allowed to go out in groups of three. Also, if you plan on going, know that you are in the exact same classes as commuter students who can go home and have a significant advantage over you, especially if you are a fine art student like myself. Don’t be mislead by the advanced drawing classes either. They aren’t that advanced. The only class I would truly recommend taking is Drawing II. If you already know how to draw, don’t waste your time at AIB. It’s basically a summer camp for rich kids who have somewhat mediocre drawing skills and view art as just a hobby. I wish I would have gone to SMFA or MICA instead. Just for the fact that the art produced by most students was just not impressive at all. There are some gems though, and you’ll definitely meet one or two friends. One of my closest friends I met at AIB
