“You’re correct that hospitals are very much opposed to the new law, and for good reason. A lot of them will go out of business, especially in rural areas. Are you arguing that that’s a good thing”
Absolutely not. One of the best things that came out of the ACA was for hospitals to finally get stability. And now that will be gone. Sad.
Thx for the income numbers. I knew it was a higher income level than what was subsidized under ACA. Now, whether the tax credits ($2k-4K depending on age) will make the insurance coverage affordable for everyone in the individual market is still unknown.
Maybe the insurance companies will just offer much cheaper plans and everyone will be happy with TrumpCare.
From what I read of that synopsis, we can start paying 5 times more than younger people for health insurance in 2018, but the potential $4000 tax credit doesn’t kick in until 2020. How is that fair?
Wow, @emilybee. Chill. Just pointed out that the link you posted was already shared previously. You have been very actively posting throughout this thread (including shortly before and after that linked post in post #182). Silly me for assuming you were actually reading it too.
Yes. I don’t always read every post since I’m in and out a lot and other times just get distracted with something else. I even sometimes just decide to skip right to the last post because I don’t feel like reading every post I missed. Oh the horror!
So back to healthcare-- read in a different site that many schools use Medicaid funding to help cover the cost of services to students in special education. Medicaid funding is used for speech therapy, occupational therapy, special education providers, school-based health services and assistive devices, such as wheelchairs. In some states, Medicaid dollars are used by schools for vision and hearing screening for eligible students.
The American Association of School Administrators (AASA) estimates that districts receive about $4 billion a year through Medicaid funding, which may face significant cuts with the new proposed healthcare “reform”. Swell.
Theoretically a thread on healthcare for those who enjoy banging their heads against the wall.
I think we’re in for a long four years. I thank God my healthcare is covered by contract for 4 1/2 more years. After that, who knows, out there scrambling like everybody else.
